Guest House and Guest Cottage Policies

Reservations:

• To reserve accommodations at The Lewis House or The Hillside Cottage you may:
  • Call us toll free at (844) 854-6424 between 9am-9pm ET (note: if we miss your call, please leave us a message and we’ll call you back asap!)
  • Reserve online by following the “check availability” link
• Reservations must be secured with a valid credit card. We accept most major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
• All gift card cards, coupons, vouchers, and/or gift certificates must be declared at time of booking.
• Deposit of 25% of the total booking amount or one night’s rate plus applicable taxes (whichever is greater) is due AT BOOKING via credit card. The remaining balance is due AT CHECK IN and will be charged to the credit card on file.

Gift Certificates:

• We happily accept gift certificates issued by The Lewis House and Michigan Bed & Breakfast Association. A valid credit card is required at the time of reservation to secure the booking. Upon redemption of the gift certificate at check in, any overpayment will be credited back to the credit card on file. Gift certificates are non-refundable and may not be redeemed for cash.

• To purchase a gift certificate for use at The Lewis House or The Hillside Cottage, please click here, and complete the form. Gift certificates will be mailed as soon as possible after purchase.

Arrival/Departure:

• Staying at The Lewis House B&B? Check in is after 4:30pm ET. Early check-in is not guaranteed; however, it may be accommodated with prior arrangement when availability allows. Additional fees may apply. Please call or email to inquire. If you expect to arrive after 6:00pm ET, please indicate your expected arrival time when you make your reservation. We will follow up to confirm details.
• Staying at The Hillside Cottage? Check in is after 4:30pm ET and self check in details will be sent via email the day before scheduled arrival date. Early check in may be accommodated with prior arrangement. Additional fees may apply. Please call or email to inquire.
• Check out is 11:00am ET for both Guest Rooms at The Lewis House and The Hillside Cottage . Late departures are not available.

Cancellations:

• All cancellations must be submitted by email.
• Reservations of four (4) nights or fewer?  Cancellations received more than four (4) days prior to arrival (standard check in of 4:30pm ET) will receive a refund of the deposit, less a $35 administrative fee per room. Cancellations received within four (4) days of arrival and no shows will result in forfeiture of the deposit. No shows will also be charged the remaining balance of the reservation. 
• Reservations of five (5) or more nights?  Cancellations received more than ten (10) days before arrival date (standard check in of 4:30pm ET) will receive a refund of the deposit, less a $50 administrative fee per room. Cancellations received within ten (10) days before arrival date and no shows result in forfeiture of deposit. No shows will also be charged the remaining balance of the reservation.  
• Changes to your reservation? When requested more than 4 days before arrival date, we’ll make every effort to accommodate changes to your booking when availability exists. Changes to your reservation may result in a rate adjustment and/or a change in room assignment. Changes to reservations and refunds for shortened stays cannot be accommodated within four (4) days of arrival or after check-in.

Visitors/Guests:

• For the comfort, privacy and security of all guests, only registered guests are permitted in and on the premises of The Lewis House and The Hillside Cottage.
• Visitors, friends, family, guests of guests, extra people of any kind or tours are not permitted at either property.

Pets:

• Our resident Kerry Blue Terrier, Pintxo (3 years old) is looking forward to your visit! Her presence prevents us from allowing guest pets on premises, which also includes our guest house. We are happy to recommend nearby pet boarding options for guests traveling with pets.
• Pintxo is part of daily life at The Lewis House and you may see her outdoors with us during your stay. Pintxo is not allowed in the cottage or any guest rooms or guest areas inside the house.
• Allergic to dogs? Kerry Blue Terriers are known for being low-shedding and producing very little dander. They are low-allergen dogs that are often recommended for allergy suffering dog lovers but those with allergies should take this information into consideration when planning their stay.

Smoking, Vaping, Open Flames:

• In accordance with Michigan state law and insurance restrictions, smoking and vaping of any kind, as well as the use of open-flame candles, are not permitted anywhere on the premises of The Lewis House or our Guest House. Violation of this policy may result in a $300 cleaning fee and immediate removal without refund.

Privacy:

• At The Lewis House and The Hillside Cottage, guest privacy is respected and protected:
  • Personal information collected during the reservation process is used solely to manage guest booking and communicate important details related to guest’s stay.
  • Guest information is not shared with third parties. Please refer to our privacy policy page for additional details.
  • To ensure privacy and security for all guests, only registered guests are permitted in or on the property. Absolutely no visitors, friends, family, guests of guests, or extra people of any kind or tours are permitted.

Lodging Rates:

• Current lodging rates vary by date and availability and may be viewed online though our availability calendar. All rates are subject to 11% lodging tax.
• As part of the reservation process, guest authorizes a credit card to be held on file and used for any repair, replacement, or additional cleaning cost resulting from damage or loss resulting from their stay. An additional administrative fee of $100 may apply in such cases.
• All rates are subject to change.

Additional Guest Room Information:

• Guest Room Rates include on-site management and access to complimentary coffee, tea and light snacks, available all day, every day in the bistro room. Rates also include chef’s choice breakfast on Thursday through Sunday mornings from June through October.
• Mid-stay room changes may be accommodated when availability allows and are subject to the current nightly rate, plus a $35 change fee per room change.
• All rates are quoted per room, per night, based on single or double occupancy.
• Each guest room accommodates a maximum of two (2) guests; all guests must be at 21 years of age or older.

Additional Hillside Cottage Info:

• Rates at The Hillside Cottage include on-site management. Daily housekeeping, breakfast and access to the main house are not included.
• All rates are quoted per night, based on single or double occupancy.
• The Hillside Cottage accommodates a maximum of two (2) guests; all guests must be 21 years of age or older.
